Day Trip To Tampa From Disney
Tampa is under a two-hour drive from the Magic Kingdom (I mapped it from my spot drinking a cocktail on the riverwalk) and a great option for a day trip so you don't have to move hotels! If you are anything like me staying in one spot is a huge bonus. I completely unpack in hotel stays over one night.
Tampa is a large city sitting on the water with a great riverwalk that connects hotels, bars, and restaurants. It's also the location of Yber which if you take a walking tour will find out is the city that started it all!
Here's the best food and activities we found for y'all!
Activities:
Riverwalk- We did the riverwalk after dinner one evening and had a blast. It's a multiple-mile-long walk down the water with lots of restaurants and bars located directly off of it. It even ends at Armature Works. It really makes you feel like you are in Florida.
Yber Walking Tour- Yber is such a fascinating part of Tampa's history. When you arrive in Yber you feel like you have been transported to New Orleans. I highly suggest if you want to check out the origins of Tampa to do a walking tour. While we loved the history it wasn't necessarily the best part of Tampa.
Sporting Event- Tampa is home to multiple professional teams. A great reason to leave Disney would be to grab tickets to a hockey, football, or baseball game. The Lightning stadium is within walking distance to the riverwalk and Sparkman Warf.
Hyde Park Village- This cute outside shopping place is host to many local and big brand stores. They also have cute coffee shops for sitting outside and enjoying the nice tropical weather. If you want shopping that is different than Disney Springs try this place out! We found the cutest items to take home to everyone watching Thomas.
Food:
Armature Works- We loved this food hall. Honestly, its the best food hall I have ever been to. They have something for everyone including Bak'n Babes with their Nutella cookie. On top of the building is a rooftop bar overlooking the water. They also have a fantastic bar with craft cocktails. Outside is tons of space for kids to run around and play. Seriously, we tried multiple booths and everything was fantastic.
Ulele- This was our favorite sit-down restaurant we tried and we tried so many highly ranked places. The inside aesthetic was unique and kept me constantly finding something new to look at. The outside housed a bar for everyone waiting or just wanting to hang out. My favorite part? The jalapeño cornbread muffins.
Sparkman Warf- This was the other food hall we tried while there. It had a great laid back vibe with the main focus being their beer garden. For my folks missing Disney, the Mexican restaurant has a Pina Colada that is made with Dole Whip! It tastes amazing. It's also within walking distance to the Lightning Stadium.
What else can I say except that Tampa is a great city to explore next time you are in Florida!
What do y'all think? Will you be trying Tampa out on your next Disney trip?
Until next time,
XOXO
